How do offline vector maps work?
Wayvault uses PMTiles v3 vector tile archives. Unlike traditional online tile servers, the entire map for a region or country is stored locally inside your device storage. You can browse, zoom, and rotate maps in full vector detail with zero mobile data, cellular connection, or Wi-Fi.
Can I import my own custom PMTiles or GPX trails?
Yes! Under the Maps tab, tap Installed & Sideloaded Packs to import any custom .pmtiles file from iOS Files or AirDrop. You can also import GPX or KML tracks from the Vault tab to inspect interactive elevation profiles, ascent gain, and waypoints.
Where is my data stored?
100% on your device. Wayvault has no remote databases, user accounts, or cloud synchronization. All notes, medical profiles, documents, and map caches reside strictly inside your local iOS app sandbox.
What happens if I forget my Vault PIN?
Because Wayvault is strictly local-first with salted SHA-256 password hashing, there are no remote servers or backdoors that can reset your PIN. However, vital survival tools (Emergency Flashlight, SOS Strobe, Morse Beacon, and Compass) feature an emergency bypass button that remains accessible even when the sensitive vault is locked.
How do I backup or transfer my data?
Open Settings > Vault Backup & Export to create a single encrypted or unencrypted .zip archive of your entire vault. You can save this archive to iCloud Drive, external USB-C drives, or your Mac via Finder.
How do I report a bug or request a region?
Please email us at support@wayvault.app with your device model, iOS version, and details of the issue or the map region you'd like added to the catalog.
